Vivian has been showing her work both regionally and nationally for many years, and has as many
years of teaching experience. She is a signature member of Ohio Watercolor Society, Kentucky
Watercolor Society, Central Ohio Watercolor Society, Degas Pastel Society, both the Wyoming
and Missouri Watercolor Societies, International Society of Acrylic Painters, a charter member of
the Ohio Plein Air Society, and holds membership in several central Ohio art groups.
Recently, Vivian has had works in the Kentucky Watercolor and the Ohio Watercolor Society
Shows, and the Southern Appalachian Art Guild National Juried Show. Vivian has recently won
awards from the Ohio Watercolor Society national show, the Degas Pastel Society national exhibit,
and the Best of Show award at the Dublin Ohio Paint Out competition.

The three classes are all 8 weeks in duration. The fee is $114 for UA residents, and $138 for
non-residents. The fee for the one-day workshops is $55 for UA residents, and $66 for
Acrylic Workshop (8-week class)
April 19 - June 7: Mondays, 7:00 - 9:30 PM, Amelita Mirolo Barn, Sunny 95 Park.
This versatile medium can be applied with a variety of brush strokes, resulting in a broad scope
of interesting visual effects. A strong composition evolves from our emphasis on design and
value. The class includes progressive subject matter, new techniques, individual attention and
constructive critique. A very supportive atmosphere. All levels. Supply list emailed.

Pastel Unlimited (8-week class)
April 21 - June 9: Wednesdays, 12:00 - 2:30 PM, Senior Center Building 1, Room
105. The pastel techniques introduced emphasize tonal value, light, color, and pattern through a
variety of subject matter - always something new! Vivian demonstrates how to build a strong
composition using a selection of strokes and effects. Benefit from individual attention and

Creating with Colored Pencil (8-week class)
April 23 - June 11: Fridays, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM. Senior Center Building 1, Room
105. Learn a variety of colored pencil techniques, applied in multiple ways to a variety of
surfaces. Composition, value, pattern, and color use are stressed. The class features
demonstration, personal attention, and encourages individual projects. A relaxing and creative
way to start the day! All levels. Supply list emailed.

Watercolor: A Fresh Approach (1-day workshop)
Saturday, May 15, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Senior Center Building 1, Room 105.
Enjoy this fresh approach to watercolor and be bold, free, direct, and deliberate in your painting
style. Learn to establish a dramatic foundation by first simplifying a photo reference into a bold
design. This dramatic foundation is further enhanced by using dark elements at the start. Create
a strong impression with the use of clean, pure color. Demonstration is followed by individual
attention and constructive critique. Some painting experience is helpful. One-hour lunch break.

Watercolor on Gesso (1-day workshop)
Saturday, June 5: 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. UA Senior Center Building 1, Room 105.
Take advantage of this day-long opportunity to learn and practice Vivian’s unique gesso
technique. Painting on a gesso surface promotes experimentation, creating light values as well as
vibrant clean colors. Elements of design and value are stressed through demonstration,
individual attention, and class critique. Purchase the gesso-prepared surface, at minimal cost,
from the instructor. Some painting experience is helpful. One-hour lunch break. Supply list
Watercolor Pencil and More (1-day workshop)
Saturday, August 7: 9:00 AM-4:00 PM. UA Senior Center Building 1, Room 105.
Combine the drawing control of colored pencils with the paint-like characteristics of watercolor,
and open the door to a multitude of creative possibilities. Learn new innovative techniques, and
apply them in one or two different projects on a choice of surfaces available for purchase at the
class. Additionally, enjoy the possibility of adding watercolor crayons to your mix.
Demonstration, individual attention, and constructive critique are included. All levels. One-hour
lunch break. Supply list emailed.
